Canon Digital Rebel XTi Review

Canon Digital Rebel XTi Review

Canon’s Digital Camera technology never fails to amaze me and the Canon Digital Rebel XTi Camera is no exception, offering an array of features designed to deliver optimal performance in a compact body and with advanced controls for optimum performance and improved simplicity for the digital user, it makes a great Christmas Gift for the Photographer. In addition, it is one of the top cameras for instagram artists as well.

If your a serious minded photographer, perhaps moving from semi pro to professional, or you just demand a top quality digital SLR camera, this is a great digital camera to get your hands on.

We asked Gary B. if he would let us have a review of the Canon Digital Rebel XTi to provide our visitors with more detail of this great camera. This is what he and his review panel came up with.

Everything You Need To Know About The Canon Digital Rebel XTi D-SLR! by Gary B

As soon as we got our hands on it we were amazed at Canons improvements. Our Canon review panel have tested every function, every mode and evey setting of the Canon Digital Rebel XTi in the hope that we could provide you with a balanced and objective review, yet to our frustration all we came up with is that the Digital Rebel XTi is a very similar but much better quality camera than the Digital Rebel XT. Although despite its modest dimensions, Canon has stuck with the traditional Compact Flash memory card format for the XTi model.

Responsive and Reliable

The EOS Digital Rebel XTi has a brilliant 2.5-inch LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels. Also used in Canon’s Professional EOS SLRs, this screen displays more than images. Shooting information and playback are both displayed on the LCD, so that the photographer can see all of the shooting information simultaneously on one screen. Not only can images be viewed larger than on the Digital Rebel XT, they can be viewed at a greater angle (160 degrees) than many other conventional LCD monitors.

Display Off Sensor

When composing images, the Digital Rebel XTi’s external display turns off automatically thanks to the newly developed Display Off Sensor. This new sensor detects the photographer’s face against the back panel of the camera, and turns the screen off to prevent the LCD monitor’s brightness from disturbing the photographer’s eye while looking through the viewfinder.

Speedy Operation

EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 USM Standard Zoom Lens.
With a startup time of 0.2 seconds, the EOS Digital Rebel XTi is ready to go the instant it’s brought to the eye. And the Digital Rebel XTi’s shutter can record images as fast as 1/4000 seconds and as long as 30 seconds, plus bulb at up to 3 frames per second (fps) for 27 consecutive shots. It synchronizes with Canon Speedlites at 1/200 second.

This kit includes a standard zoom exclusively for the EOS Digital Rebel and EOS 20D SLR cameras, with APS-C size image circle equivalent to an approximately 28-90mm focal length. The lens is compact and ultra-lightweight with impressive close-focusing ability of 0.9 feet (0.28 meters). It features optimized coating for digital imaging sensor to minimize ghost images and flare.

In addition, the XTi is Canons first digital SLR to feature the new self cleaning sensor, that automatically keeps the XTi sensor dust & dirt free! This is a fantastic feature of a top range digital SLR! Reference frames can also be tagged to individual images for the automatic removal of more annoying dirt & dust particles using software which comes supplied with the camera package. Certainly a digital SLR model to consider!

Review/Comments: Gary B’s report on the Canon Digital Rebel XTi contains some interesting comments on the revolutionary features of this digital SLR camera, some of which you would only find in the Canon’s Professional EOS SLRs, at more than five times the cost of the XTi.

Such as the brilliant 2.5-inch LCD monitor, showing shooting information and playback at the same time while viewing the image. The LCD monitor in the XTi, is the same as in the Canon Professional EOS.

Conclusion

I can tell you one thing, I wouldn’t part with my Digital Rebel XTi, not unless you offered me one of the new top of the range Canon Professional EOS SLRs for free, then I would still want to keep my Digital Rebel XTi as a back up, and that’s the truth!

This is one of the best cameras I have ever used and is more than capable of handling light professional work, making it a good camera choice for the serious minded photographer as a start up to shooting professional images. A great Camera Gift Idea, or Christmas Gift for a Photographer.
